Delaware Man Arrested for Multiple Vehicle Thefts in Sussex County

Donsha Sturgis faces several felony charges after string of overnight thefts

by Sophia Bennett

Delaware State Police have arrested 22-year-old Donsha Sturgis of Laurel for a series of thefts targeting unsecured vehicles in eastern Sussex County. Between June 10 and June 17, 2025, troopers investigated multiple overnight thefts and attempted thefts in the communities of Autumn Oaks, Overbrook Shores, Vincent Overlook, Eagle Run, and Edgewater Estates. Suspects unlawfully entered properties and stole money and property from unlocked cars.

Detectives identified a silver Chevy Cruze as the vehicle used during these incidents, ultimately linking Sturgis to the crimes. On July 1, police executed a search warrant at a residence on the 2800 block of Daniel Street in Laurel, where Sturgis was taken into custody without incident.

He was charged with multiple felony counts, including theft from a victim aged 62 or older, conspiracy, criminal trespass, and other theft-related offenses. Sturgis was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.

Delaware State Police are continuing their investigation to identify additional suspects and encourage anyone with information to contact Detective M. Aberman at (302) 752-3807, message the Delaware State Police on Facebook, or reach out to Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
