DeLand Men Arrested in $40K Scrap Metal Theft

Three accused of stealing 135,443 pounds from manufacturer

DELAND, Fla. — Three men from DeLand have been arrested for allegedly orchestrating the theft of more than 135,000 pounds of scrap metal from the trailer manufacturer where they were employed, according to Volusia County sheriff’s investigators.

Authorities said the stolen scrap metal was sold to a local junkyard for over $40,000. Jason Kinch, 49, a former production manager at ALCOM USA, located at 2526 W. New York Ave., was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on Wednesday, December 10.

Kinch faces charges including dealing in stolen property, conspiracy to deal in stolen property, and grand theft of more than $20,000 but less than $100,000, according to court records. The investigation into the other two suspects is ongoing.
