De’Anthony Coley, Dorian Jackson Arrested in Stolen Car Case

Gainesville duo caught after foot chase by police

by Amelia Crawford

GAINESVILLE, Ga. —
Two men from Gainesville were arrested on Saturday, May 3, shortly after police spotted them in a recently stolen vehicle.

According to Kevin Holbrook of the Gainesville Police Department, officers located the stolen car near Collins Drive. Inside were De’Anthony Jermaine Coley, 18, and Dorian Scott Jackson, 20.

Officers initiated a traffic stop, prompting the driver to flee on foot, Holbrook said. Police chased and quickly apprehended both suspects — the fleeing driver and the passenger.

Authorities believe the pair broke into multiple vehicles overnight and ultimately stole the car because the keys had been left inside by the owner.

“We believe this duo was acting alone,” Holbrook said, while urging the public to lock their vehicles and remove valuables and keys.

Coley and Jackson face charges of theft, loitering, and prowling.
