Deante Hammie Charged in Branford Porsche Theft Case

19-year-old linked to luxury car theft through forensic evidence

BRANFORD, Conn. (WFSB) — A 19-year-old New Haven man has been arrested in connection with the theft of a high-end vehicle from a Branford home earlier this year.

On May 29, 2024, Branford police responded to a residence on Lomartra Lane where a 2016 Porsche Cayenne GTS had been stolen from the garage. Investigators later determined that multiple individuals were involved in the theft, based on surveillance video, forensic analysis, and digital evidence.

Through a collaborative investigation involving the Connecticut State Police, West Haven Police, and Stratford Police Departments, authorities identified Deante Hammie, 19, as one of the suspects. Hammie was linked to the crime via fingerprint evidence and digital data obtained from the vehicle’s infotainment system.

Hammie was arrested by New Haven police and charged with the following:

Burglary in the third degree

Conspiracy to commit burglary in the third degree

Larceny of a motor vehicle

Conspiracy to commit larceny of a motor vehicle

He is currently being held on a $100,000 bond. The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement continues working to identify additional suspects.
