MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Deangelo Bills, 44, was arrested Monday night after Memphis police found him inside an abandoned building on Crump Boulevard with a stolen firearm and fentanyl.
Bills, who goes by the nickname “Wild,” was wanted for a violent robbery that occurred on October 11, 2024, in Whitehaven. Authorities say he shot a man in the lower back before robbing him of $300 on Tulane Road.
A witness in a nearby apartment complex identified Bills as the shooter, and on October 24, 2024, the victim also picked him out of a six-person lineup. However, he was not immediately taken into custody.
His arrest came Monday night when police responded to a suspicious person call at an abandoned building on Crump Boulevard. Officers discovered Bills inside the old Metro Shopping Plaza and found a stolen gun beneath his feet. Police also recovered 16 grams of fentanyl and said Bills provided a false identity during questioning.
Records indicate that Bills is a convicted felon who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2015.
He is now charged with especially aggravated robbery, weapons offenses, and drug possession. Bills is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
