A 64-year-old man from Wesley, Iowa, was arrested on drug charges after a welfare check on Thursday evening led to the discovery of illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia inside his vehicle.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), a deputy was patrolling in Wesley around 7:10 p.m. when he observed a vehicle parked along East Street and Old Highway 18. The driver appeared to be slumped over the wheel, prompting the deputy to stop and initiate a welfare check. After assessing the situation, the deputy determined the driver did not require medical attention. However, as the deputy approached the vehicle, he observed illegal narcotics and paraphernalia inside.
The driver was identified as Dean Youngwirth of Wesley, and he was arrested on the spot. A search warrant was subsequently executed at Youngwirth’s home located on East Street North in Wesley.
Youngwirth faces several charges, including:
Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver
Possession of Marijuana (3rd Offense)
Failure to Affix Drug Tax Stamp
Possession of Controlled Substance (1st Offense)
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Youngwirth was booked into the Kossuth County Jail, and his bond was set at $25,000, either cash or surety. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
