LAFAYETTE, La. — A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a shooting that occurred on August 24 in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Daylon Andrus has been booked into the Lafayette Parish Jail on one count of attempted second-degree murder, authorities confirmed. His bond has been set at $500,000.
The incident, which remains under active investigation, resulted in the injury of 6-year-old Riley Francis, who was shot in the 500 block of Saucier Parkway.
Riley, one of two daughters of Jexada Francis, is currently being treated in a Baton Rouge hospital, where she is reported to be in stable condition, though her injuries require long-term care.
A GoFundMe has been launched to support the family, stating:
“She will not be able to work and be hands-on with her baby as she would like. She’s in Baton Rouge with her 6-year-old daughter who’s in critical care and may need support beyond 6 months.”
The family is seeking community support during this difficult time as Riley continues her recovery.
