Two people have been arrested in Derby, Connecticut, following a bank fraud investigation at a Liberty Bank branch.
Authorities say 60-year-old David Yorwerth walked into the Liberty Bank at 49 Pershing Drive on Feb. 27, where an employee recognized him from a previous fraudulent account attempt at a Liberty Bank in North Haven. Officers were called, and Yorwerth was detained while carrying fraudulent and forged identification documents.
Surveillance footage and electronic evidence led investigators to 28-year-old Taylor Greene, who was identified as a co-conspirator and also arrested.
Yorwerth faces charges including identity theft, first-degree forgery, criminal impersonation, interfering with an officer, and conspiracy counts related to the scheme. Greene was charged with identity theft, first-degree forgery, and conspiracy counts tied to the same fraud attempt.
