David Ramos, a 59-year-old man from Wilmington, Delaware, has been arrested in connection with a burglary at a Shell gas station in New Castle. The incident occurred on Friday, April 4, 2025, when Delaware State Police responded to a burglary report at the Shell station located at 3001 New Castle Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers discovered significant damage to the building, including multiple holes in the roof, which had caused water damage and flooding inside the business after heavy rainfall overnight. The investigation revealed that at approximately 12:33 a.m., a masked suspect cut holes in the roof to enter the closed gas station. Once inside, the suspect stole over $6,000 worth of tobacco products before fleeing on foot.
Through further investigation, police identified David Ramos as the suspect involved in the burglary. A warrant for his arrest was obtained, and on April 6, 2025, officers located him at a motel in New Castle. Ramos was arrested without incident, and during a search of his room, several stolen tobacco products were recovered.
Ramos was transported to Troop 2, where he was charged with several felony offenses, including:
Burglary 3rd Degree
Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony
Possession of Burglar Tools
Theft of $1,500 or Greater
Criminal Mischief Over $5,000
He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and is currently being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $16,000 cash bond.
