GUILFORD, Conn. — A Branford man has been charged in connection with multiple robberies across Guilford and East Haven, according to local police.

David Pulcinella, 54, was taken into custody on August 12 by East Haven police following an attempted robbery earlier that day in Guilford. Police say the incident occurred around 2:22 p.m. at Ascend Bank on Boston Post Road, where Pulcinella allegedly used a handwritten note to demand money. He fled when no cash was handed over. No injuries were reported.

That same day, he was arrested in East Haven and charged with second-degree criminal attempt to commit robbery for the Guilford bank incident. He was held on a $250,000 bond.

An earlier incident linked to Pulcinella happened on August 5 at a Mobil Gas Station on Boston Post Road in Guilford, where a suspect allegedly threatened to use a handgun during a robbery and fled the scene with cash. On August 20, Pulcinella was arrested for that case and charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree larceny, with an additional $75,000 bond set.

Guilford police credited the FBI, the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office, and regional law enforcement agencies with assisting in the investigation. They also highlighted the use of license plate reader technology in tracking and identifying the suspect.

“These arrests represent the strength of interagency cooperation and the benefits of advanced technology in protecting shoreline communities,” police said in a statement.
