LONDON — David Odunuga, 33, has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 27 years for the murder of Brian Edwards, 53. The fatal incident occurred on September 19 of last year near Finsbury Park, when Odunuga stabbed Edwards three times following an argument between the two.
Emergency services responded to a call at 4 a.m. and found Edwards seriously injured outside his home. Witnesses reported hearing the victim shouting for help, and neighbors informed police about a heated argument prior to the attack. The suspect was seen wearing a mask and was reportedly rummaging through a silver BMW X5 left at the scene.
Investigators connected the BMW to Odunuga through false information on insurance and registration documents. A key piece of evidence was a car key recovered from the vehicle, which scientists confirmed contained Odunuga’s DNA.
Further analysis of the vehicle’s movements, along with mobile phone data, strengthened the case against Odunuga. CCTV footage also played a significant role, tracking him to key locations, including near a family address where the victim’s phone was found discarded.
Odunuga was convicted and sentenced to life for the murder of Edwards, with a minimum of 27 years to be served before he can be considered for parole.
