David Maine Sentenced to 6 Life Terms for VA Murders

Brutal 2022 Dale City killings leave lasting trauma

by Sophia Bennett

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — David Nathaniel Maine, 27, will spend the rest of his life behind bars after receiving six life sentences plus 53 years for the brutal murder of four people in a Dale City home on October 17, 2022.

Maine pleaded guilty in January 2025 to the killings of:

Kelly Victoria Sotelo, 42

Miguel Duran Flores, 44

Karrie Ayline Sotelo, 19

Richard Julio Jesus Revollar Corrales, 36

He also pleaded guilty to rape, forcible sodomy, abduction, and using a firearm during a felony.

“This is one of the worst cases Prince William County has ever seen,” said Commonwealth’s Attorney Amy Ashworth, speaking to 7News following the sentencing.

Ashworth noted that the case will haunt her for a long time, describing the victims as “innocent people who were murdered for no good reason.”

Though Maine will eventually be eligible for geriatric parole, Ashworth said she doubts he will ever be released.

The October 2022 attack shocked the Dale City community and left behind a legacy of grief for the families involved. Maine’s sentencing, prosecutors say, marks a significant step toward justice in one of Virginia’s most disturbing homicide cases in recent memory.
