MOBERLY, Mo. – Charges have been filed against 68-year-old David Heyde in connection with the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Bailey Scott over the weekend, Randolph County Prosecuting Attorney Stephanie Luntsford confirmed to KOMU 8.
Heyde was arrested Thursday afternoon by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and booked into the Randolph County Jail at 2:19 p.m., according to jail records.
Luntsford said Heyde is facing a charge of second-degree murder related to the shooting. As of 5:40 p.m., the charges were not yet listed in Missouri’s online court records system.
Authorities, including the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control, have been investigating Scott’s death since she was shot and killed Sunday night in Moberly.
Bailey Scott, a Moberly resident, was only 23 years old.
