Former West Fargo Principal David George Sentenced to 40 Years for Child Sex Abuse Crimes
FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) — Former West Fargo Public Schools principal David George has been sentenced to 40 years in federal prison, followed by 20 years of supervised release, for multiple child sex abuse-related offenses.
George pleaded guilty to transportation of a minor, distribution of images depicting sexual exploitation of children, and possession of such images. The sentence was handed down on September 8, after the court accepted his plea agreement.
Previously the principal at Independence Elementary and assistant principal at Cheney Middle School, George was arrested in August 2023 on child sex abuse material charges. He resigned from his role the same day.
During sentencing, Chief Judge Peter D. Welte heard victim impact statements, as well as a statement from George himself, who said:
“What I did is costing everyone I love. My life was dedicated to helping kids, not hurting them.”
In addition to his prison sentence, George was ordered to pay $17,853.34 in restitution to the victim.
