Vidyanagar police in Davanagere have arrested four more suspects in connection with a major drug seizure, bringing the total arrests in the case to eight. The newly arrested individuals are Anwar Bhasha, Paras, Krishnamurty, and Dhoni alias Manjunath, all of whom are now in judicial custody.
SP Uma Prashanth stated that the newly arrested suspects were buying drugs from previously apprehended persons and were also found consuming narcotics. “They have been placed under judicial custody, and investigations are ongoing,” he said.
The police launched the crackdown ahead of the New Year celebrations, urging the public to report any drug sales or consumption immediately.
The operation initially began on December 22, when Vedamurthy SG (53), along with Rajasthan natives Ram Swaroop (33), Dholaram (36), and Dev Kishan (35), were arrested. Authorities seized 290 grams of narcotics, including MDMA and synthetic drugs, worth several lakhs, from the arrested individuals.
Police confirmed that the operation against drug trafficking in Davanagere will continue as part of ongoing citywide anti-narcotics measures.
