PHOENIX, Ariz. — The daughter of 61-year-old Reginald Anderson has been arrested in connection to his fatal shooting at his West Phoenix home on March 1. Police have charged Reilan Anderson, 33, with first-degree murder and aggravated assault after she was identified as the sole suspect in the case.

The shooting occurred near 101st and Oregon Avenues just before noon on Thursday. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots, prompting several calls to 911. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Reginald Anderson, also known as “Reggie,” dead from gunshot wounds.

Witnesses quickly pointed investigators toward Reilan Anderson as a potential suspect. She was located and arrested in Maricopa, Arizona. During a police interview, Reilan denied involvement in her father’s death, but authorities say she remains the only person of interest in the case.

On May 2, during a court hearing, the defense mentioned Reilan’s mental health as a potential factor in the incident. She has been placed on a $1 million bond, and additional family members may face charges for allegedly helping Reilan cover up the crime. However, her attorney denied the claims, stating they were exaggerated.

The tragedy has deeply affected neighbors and family members alike. Reginald Anderson’s stepmother, Taniesha Anderson, tearfully described how Reilan allegedly entered their home, killing her husband and attempting to harm her as well. “She came into my home, murdered her father and my husband of 20 years in cold blood,” she said.

Neighbors expressed shock over the incident, remembering Reginald as a helpful, kind person. Ann Major, a neighbor of five years, described him as a “wonderful person” who was always there to help.

As the investigation continues, authorities are working to uncover more details surrounding the motive behind the deadly incident.
