MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) — Darius Lucky, one of the suspects charged in the capital murder of 9-year-old Cailee Knight, now faces additional charges after an altercation at Mobile’s Metro Jail.
On March 7, Lucky reportedly attacked fellow inmate Tyrone Davis after a disagreement between the two, according to court documents. The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office says Lucky used a makeshift weapon, or “shank,” to assault Davis. The attack caused injuries that were not life-threatening, and Davis was treated and released from the hospital within two days.
Although the attack was not gang-related, the two men have since been placed in separate areas of the jail.
Lucky, who is also facing charges in the death of Cailee Knight, has been charged with second-degree assault and promoting prison contraband in connection with the incident. He pleaded not guilty to the assault charge during an arraignment on Thursday. Lucky is scheduled for another court appearance on April 17.
Davis, the victim of the attack, is currently in Metro Jail facing charges related to two separate shootings in Mobile and Prichard.
