DANVILLE, Ill. (WICS) — Myron Wright, 42, formerly of Danville, has been sentenced to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to methamphetamine possession, a Class X felony.

The sentencing, overseen by Judge Karen Wall, also includes 18 months of mandatory supervised release following Wright’s imprisonment.

The case stems from a November 14, 2019, incident when agents from the Vermilion County Metropolitan Enforcement Group observed Wright entering a vehicle. A traffic stop led to the discovery of two baggies containing over 33 grams of methamphetamine where Wright had been seated. The substance tested positive for methamphetamine both in the field and at the Illinois State Police Crime Lab.

During the investigation, other occupants of the vehicle admitted to giving Wright $100 in an attempt to purchase methamphetamine.

State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy praised the Vermilion County Metropolitan Enforcement Group, stating their work helps bring drug dealers to justice and ensures community safety.
