by Sophia Bennett

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) — A 21-year-old man has been arrested in Auburn after authorities linked him to a recent auto burglary through the discovery of stolen property during a firearm investigation.

Dante Buchanan faces charges of unlawful breaking and entering into a vehicle and theft of property in the second degree. He is currently being held at the Lee County Jail on a $6,000 bond.

Auburn police responded to a report of a firearm being discharged on West Longleaf Drive on August 29. While the shots were not aimed at any people or property, Buchanan was identified as the individual involved.

During the investigation, officers discovered stolen items at a residence connected to Buchanan. A subsequent search warrant led to the recovery of additional property, including items tied to an auto burglary on Downs Way reported the previous week.

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing as they work to identify other recovered items.
