JEWETT CITY, Conn. (WTNH) — Three New York residents were arrested Sunday after allegedly stealing more than $2,600 worth of merchandise from a Walgreens in Jewett City, according to Connecticut State Police.
Daniel Redd, 20, Daevantae Andrews, 30, and Alexis Albert, 27, were taken into custody following the theft and a brief pursuit involving one of the suspects.
At approximately 1:49 p.m., troopers responded to the Walgreens where a store employee reported suspicious behavior. According to surveillance footage and witness accounts, Redd initially entered the store, placed over-the-counter medications into a bag, and left it by the door. Moments later, Andrews entered, grabbed the bag, and fled.
The suspects left in a black Toyota Corolla with New York plates, which was later spotted at the Lisbon Landing shopping plaza. Officers located Redd with the vehicle. Shortly afterward, both Andrews and Albert—also seen in the Walgreens surveillance—were identified nearby.
When officers confronted Andrews, he allegedly refused commands, attempted to flee, and was subsequently tased and arrested. A background check revealed Andrews had an extraditable felony warrant from New Jersey.
All three suspects were found in possession of stolen merchandise and now face multiple charges:
