Daniel “Juma” Drie Atem, 31, has been arrested in Winnipeg in connection with the murder of Roman Miller, which occurred on July 29, 2023, in Regina. Atem was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Miller outside a business on the 2100 block of Broad Street in Regina.

Atem, who had been placed on Canada’s most wanted list by the BOLO (Be on the Lookout) program, was apprehended by police on Wednesday. In a press release, authorities noted that the BOLO program had also offered a $50,000 reward and ran a significant billboard campaign across Saskatchewan and Alberta, regions where Atem has connections.

The investigation previously led to the arrest of 25-year-old Shedrek Samuel, who turned himself in to police in February 2024, also facing charges in connection with Miller’s murder.

Following Atem’s court appearance in Winnipeg on Thursday, police confirmed he would be transported to Regina for further proceedings. The date of his next court appearance has yet to be determined.
