MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — Daniel Brown, 25, of Ephrata, Lancaster County, has been arrested in connection with the theft of $70,000 from a Cumberland County storage facility in June 2023.

Brown, along with Matthew Reiff, 21, of Newville, Franklin County, allegedly broke into a U-Haul storage facility on the 4700 block of Gettysburg Road in Mechanicsburg. According to Lower Allen Township Police, the suspects cut a hole in the facility’s fence and then cut the locks on three storage units. One of the units contained a tote bag with $70,000 in cash.

Police say the victim suspected an estranged family member might have been involved in the theft. Investigators later identified Brown and Reiff as suspects, leading to charges of burglary, theft, and criminal trespass.

Reiff was arrested in December 2023 and is scheduled for formal arraignment on February 26. Brown was arraigned in November 2024, according to court records.
