CLEARWATER, Fla. – Damien Klaben, a Melbourne resident, was arrested Thursday afternoon for allegedly stealing more than $1,300 in cash from unattended bags on Clearwater Beach.
Police say Klaben targeted three bags near Tower 2 shortly after 3 p.m. on Wednesday. He took the bags to a nearby spot, rifled through them, and stole a combined total of $1,350 in cash, leaving behind wallets, credit cards, phones, watches, and other valuables.
Around 4:45 p.m. Thursday, multiple reports of stolen beach bags led Clearwater police to search the area. Officers found Klaben near Pier 60 and arrested him on multiple charges related to the thefts.
