TOLEDO, Ohio — Damere Wilson, 21, was sentenced to 20 months in federal prison for robbing and threatening a U.S. Postal Service carrier at an apartment complex in Oregon last year. Following his prison term, Wilson will serve three years of supervised release.

Wilson pleaded guilty in June to robbery of mail and mail theft, as well as stealing keys to mail collection boxes. On March 12, 2024, Wilson drove an unidentified individual to the Piccadilly Apartments, where the individual confronted a postal worker during a delivery.

The individual reportedly pushed a hard object into the letter carrier’s back and demanded the keys to the mailboxes. Under threat of violence, the postal worker handed over the keys, and the suspects fled the scene in Wilson’s vehicle.

During a search of Wilson’s Toledo residence, investigators recovered the stolen postal key and over 200 checks worth thousands of dollars, stolen from more than 100 mail theft victims across northern Ohio, according to the Department of Justice.
