FREMONT, Ind. — A traffic stop on Interstate 69 Tuesday evening led to the arrest of three Fort Wayne men — believed to be brothers — after state troopers discovered stolen firearms and marijuana in their vehicle.

Around 6 p.m., Indiana State Police stopped a Dodge Challenger for speeding near the 352-mile marker on I-69. During the stop, troopers noticed the strong smell of marijuana coming from the car. A search of the vehicle uncovered multiple packages of suspected marijuana, along with a handgun and a rifle — both reported stolen.

The driver, Damarcus Rogers, 41, was arrested on several charges, including:

Theft of a firearm (Level 5 felony)

Operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing endangerment (Class A misdemeanor)

Possession of marijuana (Class B misdemeanor)

The passengers, Kamari Rogers, 37, and Daymond Rogers, 44, were each charged with Class B misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

If convicted, Damarcus Rogers faces up to six years in prison for the firearm theft charge.

The Indiana State Police emphasized that while marijuana remains illegal in Indiana, driving under the influence and possessing stolen firearms are serious offenses in all states.

“Our Troopers will continue their efforts to take intoxicated drivers and illegal firearms off Indiana roadways,” the agency stated.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the arrests. All suspects were taken into custody without incident.
