Dalton Clear, John Garner Arrested After Runaway Found in Campbell

Two men charged following juvenile recovery and deputy assault

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Tenn. — Authorities found a runaway juvenile safe near LaFollette on Ivey Hollow Road on Thursday, leading to the arrest of two men after a confrontation with deputies, according to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

The juvenile was located with two adults, identified as Dalton Clear and John Garner. During the arrest process, Clear violently resisted by kicking the windows of the patrol car and headbutting the cage, prompting deputies to request backup from the LaFollette Police Department.

Two deputies sustained injuries during the incident, including one who suffered a head injury.

Clear faces numerous charges: public intoxication, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, two counts each of assault and aggravated assault on an officer, and four counts of vandalism.

Garner was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and harboring a runaway juvenile.

Both men remain in custody at the Campbell County Jail.
