DALLAS, Texas — A veteran Dallas police officer, Senior Corporal Le Chau, was arrested after voluntarily surrendering to authorities on July 10, 2025, facing third-degree felony theft charges.

Chau, who has served the Dallas Police Department since May 2013 and was recently assigned to the Basic Academy training recruits, is accused of stealing between $30,000 and $150,000.

The arrest followed the issuance of a warrant by the Dallas Police Department itself. Upon his surrender to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Chau was immediately placed on administrative leave, pending the conclusion of an internal investigation.

Details regarding the timing and methods of the alleged theft have not been disclosed by authorities. In Texas, third-degree felony theft carries a potential sentence ranging from two to ten years in state prison.

The department has stated that the investigation remains active.
