PLANO, Texas — A 29-year-old Dallas man has been sentenced to federal prison for his involvement in a series of ATM robberies across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, authorities announced.
Dominique Marquis Childress pleaded guilty to Hobbs Act robbery and was sentenced to 57 months — about 4 years and 9 months — in federal prison on Monday.
Court documents indicate that from May 16 to June 1, 2023, Childress and accomplices carried out a spree targeting convenience stores across North Texas. The group smashed storefront glass with sledgehammers, forcibly removed ATMs, and loaded them into stolen trucks and SUVs. The stolen cash was then divided among participants.
Authorities later recovered abandoned vehicles and ATMs, but most of the cash had already been removed.
Federal officials noted that this case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative targeting violent crime, transnational criminal organizations, and other illegal activities.
The investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI Frisco Office and police departments in Plano, Irving, Dallas, Mesquite, Carrollton, and Grapevine.
Childress’s sentence marks the conclusion of the federal prosecution, emphasizing ongoing efforts to combat organized violent crime in the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
