LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. — Cynthia Ingram, 64, wife of former Lenoir County Sheriff Ronnie Ingram, was arrested Tuesday on multiple drug and driving charges.

Deputies observed Ingram driving erratically on Hull Road and pulled her over on Vernon Avenue near Vernon Park Mall. After conducting a field sobriety test, Ingram was charged with driving while impaired (DWI).

Warrants revealed that Ingram is also charged with felony trafficking of opium or heroin, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance (Xanax), and possession of drug paraphernalia. The trafficking charge involves possession of between four and 14 grams of opioids.

A search of Ingram’s vehicle uncovered several pills. She was released on a $50,500 secured bond.

Ronnie Ingram served two terms as Lenoir County Sheriff.
