In a shocking incident at Cuttack’s Buxi Bazaar, Ashok Barik was allegedly murdered by close family members over a property dispute. Police have arrested three suspects: Ashok’s younger brother Umesh Barik, sister-in-law Saraswati Swain, and nephew Swayam Prabhu Sricharan. The trio stands accused of killing Ashok to claim his share of ancestral property.

Ashok’s body was discovered inside the CDA Market Complex two days ago. Following a thorough investigation, the Commissionerate Police-Cuttack took swift action in arresting the accused. However, police continue to hunt for a fourth suspect believed to be involved in the crime.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo revealed that the family had ongoing disputes over property in Sankarpur, Cuttack. Ashok had retained his and his mother’s shares from a previous property sale in Salepur, which allegedly provoked the conspiracy against him.

The grim nature of the crime has shocked the local community, highlighting the dark side of family disputes over property. The arrested suspects are expected to be presented in court shortly, while the search for the remaining accused continues.
