Liverpool, UK – A man has been jailed for 22 months after joining a violent mob that forced its way into a phone repair shop and attacked police officers in Liverpool city centre.

Curtis Wright, 21, of Southbrook Road, Leyland, was seen throwing missiles at police on Paradise Street on Saturday, August 3, 2024. Later, he and a group of others forced entry into a phone repair shop on Church Street, causing damage to the premises.

Wright appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, March 21, 2025, where he was sentenced to 22 months in prison for violent disorder and burglary other than a dwelling.

Police Condemn Violence
Merseyside Police strongly condemned the violent scenes, highlighting the fear and harm caused to both the community and police officers.

“As well as the fear caused to those communities, we sadly saw multiple officers hurt carrying out their duties to protect and serve.”

Officers have vowed to identify, pursue, and bring to justice those responsible for the shameful acts that unfolded.

Merseyside Police continues its efforts to tackle public disorder and criminal damage, ensuring those who engage in violence are held accountable.
