MIAMI, FL — Cuban reggaeton artist Leamsy “La Figura” Izquierdo was arrested Wednesday, July 2, in Miami-Dade County on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery, according to official jail records.

Leamsy, whose full name is Leamsy Izquierdo, was taken into custody at 1:59 PM and is currently being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center (TGKCC), a major pre-trial detention facility in the county.

The charges against the 33-year-old artist include:

Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon — $5,000 bail

Simple assault (battery) — $1,000 bail

As of now, he remains behind bars with a total bail amount set at $6,000.
Background on Leamsy “La Figura”
Born in Ciego de Ávila, Cuba, in 1991, Leamsy began his urban music career in 2018. He gained popularity with singles like “Dile a tu Jevito”, “Se le ve”, “Eterno”, and “Ella quiere”. Beyond music, he has also been active in business ventures.

In 2024, Leamsy drew media attention after a public altercation in New York with fellow Cuban reggaeton artist Abel Díaz Rodríguez, known as “El Chulo.” The dispute, which took place at the Element Hotel, reportedly led to police involvement, although “El Chulo” claimed that hotel staff — not Leamsy — called the authorities.

“In the altercation we had, Leamsy was not the one who called the police,” stated El Chulo.

That confrontation sparked a back-and-forth on social media, with both artists publicly addressing the incident.

Legal Status & Next Steps
As of this report, Leamsy has not posted bail and remains incarcerated. His case is under review by Miami-Dade authorities, and further details, including a potential court date, have yet to be released.

This arrest may have implications for Leamsy’s rising career in the Latin urban music scene, as legal troubles continue to affect artists in the reggaeton and trap genres.
