SHREVEPORT, La. — A Shreveport woman is facing multiple charges after a dramatic incident on Sunday morning in the 8600 block of Dowdell Street, according to local authorities.

Crystal Brown, 37, allegedly kicked in the door of her boyfriend’s home and fired a gun at him. The man escaped without injury.

After the shooting, Brown fled into a nearby field, where she attempted to hide from responding officers. Police say that during their attempt to engage her, Brown repeatedly reached under her shirt as if grabbing a weapon and shouted, “You’re going to have to kill me today.”

Fearing an imminent threat, one officer discharged a single round, which did not strike Brown. Officers then deployed a taser, successfully subduing her and taking her into custody without further harm.

Brown has been charged with illegal use of a weapon, and police say additional charges may follow as the investigation continues.

No officers or bystanders were injured during the encounter.
