Operatives from the Nigeria Police Force have apprehended crypto billionaire Linus Williams, widely known as BLord, in Abuja on Tuesday. His arrest follows serious allegations of cryptocurrency fraud, funding terrorism, and facilitating internet fraud linked to his various companies.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson for the Force, confirmed the arrest during an interview. He noted that Williams was taken into custody after multiple complaints were lodged against his businesses.
“We have him in custody. The FCID (NPF-NCCC) is currently investigating the complaints against Blord Group, Blord Real Estate Ltd, Blord Jetpaye Limited, and Billpoint Technology,” Adejobi stated.
He elaborated on the allegations, which include cryptocurrency fraud, aiding internet fraud, computer-related fraud, and non-compliance with regulatory frameworks. Adejobi assured that the police would conduct a thorough investigation into these matters. “We are committed to ensuring that our cyberspace remains safe and secure,” he added.
Adejobi denied claims that the arrest stemmed from a petition filed by Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, stating that the police’s actions were based on independent complaints.
