Two men were arrested for their involvement in a series of retail thefts at stores in Orange County.
On May 3, security officers at the Irvine Spectrum mall noticed a “suspicious person” on the premises, prompting them to alert the authorities. Irvine police responded quickly and spotted a male suspect driving away from the mall while committing multiple vehicle code violations.
Officers initiated a traffic stop and apprehended two suspects — Cristian Hernandez Jaramillo, 36, and David Zamir Zuarez Ramos, 28, both from Ontario. Upon searching their vehicle, police discovered stolen merchandise valued at over $1,200, taken from popular retail stores Lululemon and Vuori.
Additionally, two booster bags were found in the car. These bags are lined with material designed to shield merchandise from store security systems, allowing thieves to steal items undetected.
Both Jaramillo and Ramos were arrested and charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, organized retail theft, receiving stolen property, and driving without a license. They were booked into the Orange County Jail.
As of now, further details have not been disclosed, and the investigation is ongoing.
