The Crime Branch on Thursday arrested six individuals for allegedly creating forged documents and using them to obtain Aadhaar cards. Investigators found that the group manipulated original identity papers required for Aadhaar enrolment, altering key details to make the fake documents appear authentic.
Those arrested include Ravi Dhadaniya (26), Haresh Sakariya (44), Bipin alias Vishal Chowtiya (36), Jugesh Besra (32), Sarthak Borad (29), and Dhanpal Boricha (28). Police seized 58 forged documents during the operation.
The group targeted people who lacked valid documents needed for Aadhaar updates—such as changes in name or address. They edited PAN cards, marriage certificates, birth certificates, and government gazette papers, modifying them to look legitimate.
According to DCP (Crime) Dr Parthrajsinh Gohil, the Aadhaar-related services were being offered from an office named Shivam Infotech on Raiya Road.
Sarthak and Dhanpal had permissions to operate a public service centre at the location, which had been running for the past 18 months. Bipin and Jugesh handled the technical work—scanning original documents and altering them using software such as MS Paint and Aadhaar Magic. These manipulated documents were then uploaded to the Aadhaar portal as genuine.
Meanwhile, Ravi and Haresh were responsible for bringing customers who needed to update or correct their Aadhaar details.
