Courtney Jenkins Arrested for Armed Burglary in Cairo, NY

Freehold woman found holding scissors in stranger's home

Cairo, NY (WRGB) — A Freehold woman is facing multiple felony charges after she was found inside a stranger’s home in the Town of Cairo, reportedly armed with scissors.

On Thursday, September 11, 2025, around 5:20 PM, New York State Police from the Catskill barracks responded to a burglary in progress on Route 67. The homeowner told officers they returned to find an unknown woman, later identified as 36-year-old Courtney Jenkins, sitting on their couch holding a pair of scissors. Jenkins stood up and left the residence without confrontation.

Troopers located Jenkins nearby and took her into custody without incident. She was brought to SP Catskill for processing.

Jenkins is charged with:

Burglary in the first degree (Class B felony) — involving the use or threat of a dangerous instrument

Criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (Class D felony) — due to a prior conviction

She was arraigned in Cairo Town Court and remanded to Greene County Jail on $100,000 bail. Jenkins is scheduled to reappear in court on September 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
