BETHEL, Conn. — Connecticut State Representative Raghib Allie-Brennan was arrested Tuesday evening after allegedly shoplifting at a Target store in Bethel.

At approximately 6:37 p.m., police responded to reports of suspected shoplifting on Stony Hill Road. Upon arrival, officers identified the suspect as Rep. Allie-Brennan, who was recognized by the store’s Loss Prevention team due to prior unreported incidents.

After reviewing security footage, police concluded that Allie-Brennan attempted to leave the store without paying for $26.69 worth of merchandise. He was subsequently issued a misdemeanor summons for larceny in the sixth degree.

In a statement posted on his social media, Allie-Brennan acknowledged the incident. He is expected to appear in Danbury Superior Court on July 1.
