In a significant drug bust, Colva police apprehended Sonu Kumar Chauhan, a 24-year-old resident of Navelim, Goa, originally from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, after he was caught with 2.4 kilograms of ganja valued at Rs 2.4 lakh.
During investigations, Sonu revealed his supplier, 19-year-old Rakesh Meghwal from Udaipur, Rajasthan. Acting swiftly on intelligence, Colva police, with the support of Gogunda Police Station in Rajasthan, arrested Rakesh at Udaipur following call monitoring and technical surveillance.
Brought back to Goa, Rakesh reportedly admitted to supplying narcotics to Sonu Kumar. Sonu Kumar Chauhan was remanded to judicial custody, while Rakesh Meghwal was sent to police custody for four days.
The ongoing investigation is led by PSI Prashant Bhagat of Colva Police Station, under the supervision of PI Ritesh Tari, SDPO Siddhant Shirodkar, and Superintendent of Police South Goa, Tikam Singh Verma.
