SAN ANTONIO — Colin King was sentenced Monday to 38 years in prison for the 2019 murder of his co-worker, 45-year-old Shane Bourret, the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Bourret’s family reported him missing in May 2019 after he stopped communicating during a work trip to San Antonio. Before his disappearance, Bourret had expressed to his family that he felt threatened by King.
Investigators learned from witnesses that King shot Bourret, hid his body, and kept it at an Airbnb on the northwest side. Bourret’s remains were eventually discovered buried in the yard of a vacant house.
“This unthinkable act of violence is a heartbreaking reality that Shane’s loved ones carry every single day,” said Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales. “Today’s sentencing delivers justice for him and his family, and it reaffirms our commitment to standing with victims who can no longer speak for themselves.”
Another man, Donald Barber, has also been charged in connection with Bourret’s death. Further details have not been released.
