The Coimbatore police have successfully arrested a 32-year-old man on Tuesday night for possession of illegal substances. R. Sakthikumar, a resident of Jothipuram near Periyanaickenpalayam, was caught with 600 tablets of a prescription drug and ganja.
Sakthikumar, who was apprehended late on Tuesday, was found with the pain-reliever tablets, which are typically prescribed for medical use but are being misused for recreational purposes. Authorities seized the drugs and took him into custody.
The police action was part of their ongoing efforts to curb illegal drug use and trafficking in the region. An investigation is underway, and Sakthikumar is expected to face charges related to drug possession.
