On Monday, four drug peddlers, including a college student, were arrested in Coimbatore for possessing synthetic drugs and ganja intended for sale. The arrested individuals were identified as M Gokul (28), S Niyasudheen Ahmed alias Chinna (29), Y Mohammed Ajmal (26), and K Yadhavan (21), who is a final-year student at a private college in the city.
According to the Karumbukadai police, Gokul, who had been working with the design team of the Delhi-Noida highways project, opened an office in Cheran Maa Nagar. A youth from Goa, whom Gokul befriended through Instagram, started supplying methamphetamine to him. Over time, Gokul began using the synthetic drug and eventually started supplying it to local youths playing cricket on the synthetic turf at Cheran Maa Nagar during the night. He reportedly sold one gram of methamphetamine for ₹4,000.
Gokul also used his connections to sell both methamphetamine and ganja to college students through his accomplices. The arrest of these drug peddlers is part of an ongoing investigation aimed at curbing the growing drug trade in the area. Authorities are now working to identify other potential suppliers and individuals involved in the network.
