COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. — A coordinated investigation led by the Coffee County Law Enforcement Center (LEC) and the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit halted a contraband delivery intended for the Coffee County Pre-trial Detention Center.

On June 21, LEC personnel intercepted information about a planned smuggling operation involving Charlotte Loraine Whitfield, 52, a detention officer at the Coffee County LEC. Whitfield was set to bring contraband into the detention center.

The coordinated effort successfully stopped the contraband before it entered the facility, resulting in the arrest of three women on June 22. Whitfield was apprehended after retrieving a suspicious package from her vehicle in the LEC parking lot. She now faces charges including Violation of Oath by a Public Officer and Giving Inmates Prohibited Items.

Pamela Shea Pittman, 50, admitted to transporting the contraband from Valdosta to the LEC parking lot and was charged with Giving Inmates Prohibited Items. Jackie Teresa Jackson, 65, who drove Pittman to the facility, also confessed involvement and was similarly charged.

All three women are currently held at the Coffee County Pre-Trial Detention Center.

Sheriff Cole emphasized, “The oath we take is sacred. Those who violate their oath will be caught, charged, and prosecuted. No one is above the law.”
