YANCEY COUNTY, N.C. – A multi-agency investigation into stolen firearms led to two arrests in Asheville, authorities confirmed.
On June 5, Yancey County Sheriff’s Office detectives launched a joint operation following the report of multiple stolen firearms from a resident near State Highway 80 South. Working in coordination with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, Buncombe County SRT Team, Asheville Police Department, and the ATF Asheville District, search warrants were executed at a home on Brookside Drive and a storage unit off Hendersonville Road.
Two Arrested in Joint Operation
As a result, two suspects were taken into custody:
Christopher Michael Clemmons, 42, of Asheville, was charged with:
Felony possession of firearm by a felon
Felony second-degree burglary
Felony safe-cracking
Felony possession of burglary tools
Felony larceny after breaking and entering
Misdemeanor possession of stolen goods/property
Misdemeanor injury to personal property
Clemmons is being held at the Yancey County Detention Center under a $1,002,000 secured bond.
Alyson Moss Wilson, 39, of Candler, faces charges including:
Felony second-degree burglary
Felony safe-cracking
Felony possession of burglary tools
Felony larceny after breaking and entering
Misdemeanor possession of stolen goods
Misdemeanor larceny
Misdemeanor injury to personal property
Wilson is also held at the Yancey County Detention Center with a $135,000 secured bond.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities say the investigation is still active, with more charges and arrests possible as evidence continues to be processed.
