CIA staff arrested two men, Amandeep Singh of Sultanwind Road and Satnam Singh alias Satta of Mata Ganga Ji Nagar, for possessing 2 kg of opium and Rs4.70 lakh in drug money. The arrests were made after reliable intelligence inputs, and a case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Detective) Harminder Singh confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with a focus on both their backward and forward links. More arrests are anticipated in the case. The two men were produced in court and placed under police remand for further questioning.
In separate incidents, the city police arrested four additional drug peddlers, recovering 195 grams of heroin, Rs7,700 in drug money, a .32 bore pistol with four live rounds, and a sports utility vehicle (SUV). Jatinder Singh alias Neela from Kot Khalsa was arrested with 60 grams of heroin and Rs2,000, while Harmanpreet Singh alias Raj Avenue from Ghanupur Kale was nabbed with the pistol and a Toyota Fortuner.
