SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office says its Organized Retail Crime Task Force made eight arrests Wednesday during the second day of a multi-day enforcement operation targeting retail theft.

Day Two of the operation took place at the Howe ’Bout Arden Shopping Center and focused on stores including Nike, Ulta, Nordstrom Rack, and Burlington Coat Factory. The operation was conducted with assistance from the Elk Grove Police Department.

Despite deputies and officers being deployed for only a few hours, authorities reported eight arrests, including six felony cases qualifying under Proposition 36. One of those arrested was a juvenile.

The adults taken into custody were identified as:

Christopher Vaughn, 33 (Proposition 36)

Jahmar Weber, 43 (Proposition 36)

Christopher Buley, 24 (Proposition 36)

Michael Caddick, 55 (Proposition 36)

Moneeta Kumar, 48 (Proposition 36)

Nancy Waraich, 45 (Proposition 36)

Jason Klein, 41

The Sheriff’s Office said Organized Retail Crime enforcement operations will continue throughout the week in unincorporated Sacramento County.

Officials also reminded the public that retail theft carries serious consequences, particularly during the holiday season.
