Christopher Paterson Charged with Child Pornography Offenses in Surrey
Surrey, BC – On July 5, 2023, the RCMP confirmed the arrest of 41-year-old Christopher Paterson, who faces multiple charges related to child pornography and sexual crimes. Paterson, who had already been arrested on June 19, was charged with failing to comply with probation and prohibition orders. His charges have since expanded to include sexual interference, luring a child, and possession of child pornography. Paterson has been in custody since his arrest.
In addition to the arrest, RCMP in Surrey are investigating related cases involving crimes of fraud and drug trafficking in the region.
Fraud Alerts in Coquitlam: Fake Gold Scams Targeting Victims
In a separate investigation, RCMP in Coquitlam are warning the public about ongoing fake gold and jewelry scams. Suspects have been targeting vulnerable victims in parking lots, offering to sell fake gold jewelry in exchange for money. One victim reportedly paid $200 for a piece of jewelry that was later found to be counterfeit. RCMP officers urge anyone who suspects fraudulent activity to report it immediately.
Impaired Driver Arrested in Langford with Drugs and Firearms
On Saturday, West Shore RCMP responded to a report of an unconscious driver in Langford, near Victoria. Upon investigation, officers discovered the 40-year-old driver, who was found with drug paraphernalia, showed signs of impairment. The man was arrested for drug-impaired driving, and officers seized a variety of drugs, including cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and GHB, as well as drug packaging materials. The suspect, wanted on a Canada-wide warrant, was returned to Correctional Services Canada.
Nanaimo Drug and Gun Bust Leads to Arrests
In Nanaimo, two individuals were arrested following a drug bust in September. Authorities responded to a tip about drug trafficking on Cavan Street, seizing a loaded pistol, drugs, and cash, including fentanyl, meth, and opioid tablets. Police later searched a motel room tied to the suspects, finding an additional $15,000 in cash and more illegal substances. Sara Koshman, 35, and Gerid Gregory-Allen, 30, have been charged and remain in custody pending their next court appearance on September 25.
Vancouver Border Officers Seize Replica Firearms
In a related investigation, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) reported the seizure of illegal replica firearms at Vancouver International Airport. Between August 2023 and January 2024, officers intercepted several items, including 3D printed firearms and firearm suppressors, during inspections at the airport’s Air Cargo Operations and Mail Centre. The investigation led to a search of the suspect’s residence in Vancouver, where additional firearms, replica weapons, and drugs were recovered. Charges are pending against the suspect.
