Christopher Musick Arrested in Mortgage Fraud Case

Florida man accused of large-scale property scheme

A Florida man known for his “come back with a warrant” doormat was arrested in connection with a large-scale mortgage fraud operation, according to authorities.

Christopher Musick, 57, of Daytona Beach, was taken into custody on charges of an organized scheme to defraud and grand theft exceeding $100,000, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday.

Investigators say Musick created fraudulent documents to present himself as a real estate investor and the owner of numerous commercial properties. Using those falsified records, he allegedly secured mortgages on the properties, then used the funds to buy additional real estate. Officials say he rented out the new properties while pocketing the income, all while failing to repay his loans.

Detectives from the sheriff’s Financial Crimes Unit interviewed Musick and later established probable cause to obtain a search warrant for his residence—an action authorities noted “satisfied the doormat’s request.”

According to the sheriff’s office, Musick has 10 previous felony convictions and two active warrants out of Maryland. He was booked into jail, with his bond set at $225,000.
