ONSWLOW COUNTY, N.C. — An Onslow County man has been sentenced to life in prison for a 2023 double homicide.

Christopher Kornegay pleaded guilty in Onslow County Superior Court to the murders of his fiancée, Audrey White, and her 14-year-old son, Ardrie White. Judge Bob Roupe sentenced Kornegay to two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole.

Court documents state Kornegay killed both victims with an AK-47 inside their home on Adagio Trail in Richlands. Investigators reported finding Kornegay naked standing in the roadway outside the residence, while the victims were discovered in the teenage boy’s bedroom with fatal gunshot wounds. A two-year-old child who was also in the home was unharmed.

During the hearing, the boy’s father, Dexter White, spoke wearing a shirt with a picture of his son, describing the devastating impact of the loss.

Family members are left grieving, grappling with a tragedy that has left “a hole that can never be filled,” according to relatives.
