WALTON COUNTY, Fla. – A 35-year-old man from Defuniak Springs, Christopher William Knight, was arrested Saturday after allegedly stealing a vehicle and later assaulting jail staff during the booking process.

Deputies with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, working alongside the U.S. Marshals Task Force, located a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of a local Walmart. When they attempted to arrest Knight, he refused to exit the vehicle, leading to a brief standoff before he was taken into custody.

Once transported to the Walton County Jail, Knight reportedly committed battery against jail booking staff, further escalating the charges against him.

Knight now faces multiple charges, including:

Grand Theft Auto

Obstruction of Justice

Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer

He is currently being held at the Walton County Jail on a $13,000 bond.
